NordHavn is a 44-acre micro-housing development in Camden, Maine. The development team formed in 2022 with the intent to create a residential destination for seasonal residents and visitors that want an alternative to traditional, large format housing models. The development features modern, modular cabins nested in the existing woods on site. 

In partnership with Songscape Gardens of Bar Harbor, Tandem advised the owners from the project's earliest stages to ensure that the project would sit gracefully on the landscape with minimal impacts to the existing ecosystem. Our team worked carefully to locate each cabin and driveway to preserve as many canopy trees as possible. Our team helped the client realize their commitment to ecologically sourced, sustainable materials, low-impact construction practices, the preservation of wildlife habitat, and the local sourcing of products and services.

Following the installation of the cabins, our team led the development of a planting strategy to heal areas of the site impacted by construction. This included the establishment of a 5-acre meadow over the community's new leach field.
